Marie is the director of the Association Femmes Soleil d’Haïti (Sun Association of Women in Haiti, or AFASDA), an organization that promotes women’s rights and civic and political participation.
A career nurse, she trained as a law clerk and served as the departmental director of the Ministry for Women’s Rights in the North. In her current position she runs a program to combat violence against women. She is active in the Haitian Social Democratic Party and is currently running a second time for political office.
