Kirsty started her career as a trainee editor at ZSE Studios while studying at the University of the Witwatersrand. After graduating, Kirsty was hired by African Motion Picture Company, where she wrote, directed, produced and edited projects for corporate clients.

Kirsty then became head of production at Mann Made Media, where she produced a wide variety of video projects and served in a supervisory role. In 2008, she acquired General Post, an agency for freelance production crew.

In 2010, Kirsty conceptualized and implemented the "South Africa's Next Top Filmmaker," initiative to identify and nurture filmmaking talent. The initiative ran through 2015, attracting many industry heavyweights as partners.

In 2013, Kirsty started the Five Star Media production company, which is currently developing a TV series to be picked up by a local Afrikaans channel.

Kirsty has participated in the Goldman Sachs-GIBS 10,000 Women Certificate Course for Women Entrepreneurs and the Cherie Blair mentorship programme. She has been featured in the 702 Business Accelerator with Nedbank in 2014, and was selected as one of Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneurial Winning Women Class of 2014. She was also featured as one of the Mail and Guardian's 200 Young People 2014.
