Executive Director, Family Shelter Service

 

Judie is the executive director for Family Shelter Service, an organization providing crisis services and support to victims of domestic violence throughout DuPage County. At Family Shelter Service, victims can find support to obtain an order of protection and have access to counseling, case management and emergency shelter. Family Shelter Service also provides education about healthy relationships and dating violence prevention to more than 8,000 students each year. 

Judie has 30 years of experience working for non-profit and governmental organizations. She served as the executive director of Sharing Connections, a non-profit agency dedicated to stabilizing those living below the poverty level. She is also the co-founder and former executive director of the Community Career Center, which helps the unemployed and underemployed find meaningful jobs. Judie also served as the acting executive director for the Naperville park district and created the district’s fundraising department. Additionally, Judie has taught in the School of Social Work at Aurora University and in the departments of communications at Northern Illinois University, Elmhurst College and North Central College.

Judie is a licensed clinical social worker with a Master of Social Work degree from Aurora University and both her Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Science degrees in communication from Northern Illinois
