Founder & Advisor, Participation And The Practice Of Rights (PPR)

The late Inez McCormack was a longtime member of Vital Voices’ Global Leadership Network. She became active in the Northern Ireland civil rights movement in the late 1960s, campaigning for ‘forgotten’ workers, who were mostly women.

She was the first female president of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, and led efforts to get human rights and equality provisions included in the Good Friday Agreement. Inez founded and chairs the Participation and the Practice of Rights project, and was appointed by the Irish Government in 2010 as the independent Chair of a Consultative Process to develop an Irish National Action Plan to meet the government obligations under UN Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
