Carol Fitzsimons

Carol Fitzsimons has been Chief Executive of Young Enterprise Northern Ireland since 2009. Young Enterprise is Northern Ireland’s foremost business and enterprise education charity and a member of the world’s largest and fastest growing business and economic education organization, Junior Achievement-Young Enterprise. Its mission is to inspire and equip young people to learn and succeed through enterprise. Each academic year, Young Enterprise delivers programs to over 100,000 students in schools and colleges across Northern Ireland.

Prior to joining Young Enterprise, Carol was Director of Learning and Development in the private sector, and was responsible for the strategic growth of the business. She has considerable experience in and commitment to the field of employee and organizational development and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Carol has stated that the Global Ambassadors Program gave her a clear strategic vision for Young Enterprise Northern Ireland, which she has communicated to her team. Her mentor, Katy Knox, has helped to expand Carol's network into the United States, and provided her with support on the specific focus of developing this market. Furthermore, her explanation of how the charity meets local needs has evolved and been further refined through mentor feedback.
