Los Angeles – Day 2

A full day of workshops and one-on-one mentoring filled our second day in Los Angeles as mentees and their Global Ambassadors rolled up their sleeves to begin a week of mentoring, coaching and strategizing together.

Sessions led by trainers Kathleen Holland, Brad Blake and Allison Shapira covered strategic planning for business growth, social and digital media, and communications and public speaking. When mentors and mentees learn together, they’re able to evaluate business and organizational challenges holistically, from a shared reference point.

We were joined by special guests of Bank of America for shared learning and conversation, including partners in the small and medium enterprise and nonprofit sectors, as well as financial mentors who will provide ongoing coaching beyond the program week.

Guest Caitlin McShane is with Opportunity Fund, a nonprofit organization tackling economic inequality in America by providing microloans to entrepreneurs to help them start their businesses.

“Office hours” are an invaluable feature of the Global Ambassadors Program where mentees sign up for blocks of time at the end of each day with trainers to go deeper into a particular business or communications challenge and work through solutions to take back to the office. It is just another way the program provides high-touch, tailored support for mentees coming from a range of experiences and economic situations.

Veronica is founding partner of GID Industries in Mexico, a company that sells and rents forklifts, trucks, tractors, cranes, and other industrial equipment. She’s also committed to empowering women – 50 percent of GID employees are female.
